【解説１】 特定の 〜 がある、〜 がいる

　

　　● 特定されたもの( 私の〜，だれだれの〜 など) が[ ある，いる ]は[ be動詞 ]で表す。

　

　　　　 Your book is on the desk．　　　　　　Your book was on the desk．

　　　　 あなたの本が 机の上にある。　　　　　あなたの本が 机の上にあった。

　　　　 (主語 ＋ be動詞 〜 )

　

　

【解説２】 不特定の 〜 がある、〜がいる 　 (不特定＝まだ、だれのかよくわからない)

　

　　１．不特定のものが[ ある，いる ] は [ There is 〜 ，There are 〜 ]で表す。

　　　　ものが１つのときは There is 〜　　　　　 ものが複数(２つ以上)のときは There are 〜

　　　　　　　↓　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　 ↓

　　　　There is a book on the desk．　　　　　　There are three books on the desk．

　　　　(ある)１冊の本が 机の上にある。　　　　　３冊の本が 机の上にある。

　　　　(There is ＋ 主語 〜 )　　　　　　　　　 (Thereは唐突な感じを和らげる語で意味はない)

　

　

　　２．[ 過去形 ] は [ There was 〜 ] ，[ There were 〜 ]

　

　　　　There was a book on the desk．　　　　　 There were three books on the desk．

　　　　１冊の本が 机の上にあった。　　　　　　　３冊の本が 机の上にあった。

　

　

　　３．[ 疑問文 ] にするときは [ be動詞を前に置く ]。 答えるときも[ there is (are) ]

　

　　　　Ｉs there a book on the desk？　　　　　 Were there three books on the desk？

　　　　１冊の本が 机の上にあるか。　　　　　　　３冊の本が 机の上にあったか。

　

　　　　Yes，there is．　　はい、あります。　　　　 Yes，there were．　 はい、ありました。

　　　　No，there is not． いいえ、ありません。　　 No，there weren't． いいえ、なかった。

　

　　４．[ 否定文 ] にするときは [ be動詞の後に not ]をつける。

　

　　　　There is not a book on the desk．　　　　There are no books on the desk．

　　　　机の上に 本はありません。　　　　　　　　机の上に まったく本はありません。(強い否定)
